In Memory of

Elisa Sanchez

Elisa Sanchez one of the founding members of Generations on the Move passed away in her sleep on July 14th, 2024., in San Diego, California.

In 2010 Generations on the Move became a non-profit organization, in which Elisa was elected Treasurer. She remained in the Treasurer position until her retirement from the board in 2014.

She was born in San Diego, California, and married Luis Sanchez. They welcomed Marcos Richard and Sandra Louise, and were blessed with three grandchildren: Rachel, Victoria, and David and one beautiful great grandchild, McKinley.

She continued her education and graduated with honors from Mount Saint Mary’s College.

Elisa continued her studies at San Diego State College where she earned her teaching credential and her Master’s in Administration. And was named Distinguished Alumni Of The Year at San Diego State University.

She directed and planned programs for improvement of instruction for Kindergarten through Grade 12.

She implemented bilingual and career education improvement programs.

Elisa was a teacher at Memorial and Gompers Junior High Schools and was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at San Diego Unified School District, one of the largest districts in the State of California.

She resigned her position and moved on to the Compton School District where she served as a Deputy Superintendent of Compton School District.

Elisa retired from Compton School District, and founded a Consulting Agency, ‘Sanchezymas Associates’ with other retired educators, working in the State of California with troubled schools and finding solutions for their educational problems.

In 2010, Elisa was a part of initiating the beginning of’ Generations On The Move, a family non-profit organization which continues her work in the communities to assist our underserved population.

What we once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us. She’ll always be in our hearts, always remembered.
